What’s With Jargon?

How to get a girlfriend

Too most people it is a code. Too those who know it, it has become a part of their life. It begs the question ‘Is jargon a good thing or a bad thing?’ I was reading a very interesting article on the PUA Lingo website called ‘How Much Jargon Is Too Much Jargon?’ What a great question. Someone like David Wygant is dead set against it and has written an interesting post called ‘Are You A WPUA?’ which is definitley worth a read. Whilst someone like Mystery can’t get enough. Which direction should you go in?

Firstly I just want to state that I am not here to preach to anyone. If you want to use jargon, then by all means do so. In his post Casual makes some good points about the benefits of jargon.

Personally I am not a fan of jargon. Why? Because I feel it takes the very normal natural act of meeting and attracting women and makes it sound so seedy and dirty. Remember we are talking about women here, not strange beings. Not only is it seedy and dirty but also makes life more complicated than it already is. Trying to learn all this jargon can give you a massive headache. I know because I learned most of them and it was one of many reasons why I had to stop learning the methods associated with it. Side note: You will never learn them all because the list keeps growing and growing. You are fighting a losing battle from the start.

For example: If there is a group of girls sat at a table then this is known as a “set”. But hold on a second why not just call it a group like I have just done or like any normal person who has never heard of this stuff would. Another example is HB which means hot bird. Both of which are 2 syllables and therefore take the same amount of time to say. Nothing gained by shortening it. Apart from the weird factor.

Why would you even want to bother learning all this crap? Its not going to make you any better with women.

Yes the point made in the article about being online and communicating to others is made simpler by using abbreviations. This is a very valid point. However this tends to be on forums. Many people on forums are there because they like to talk about meeting and attracting women. Not actually getting out into the real world and putting it into action. Don’t get me wrong forums can be very helpful and by all means use them. I use them myself and have benifited massively.

I just don’t want you spending too much time on them. I want you to go out into the real world and be naturally attractive. I want you to have so much success with women that you don’t have the time to go on forums. Just remember that going out and meeting women comes first.

I think the main reason people use lingo is because they want to be part of a club. Somehow it makes them cool. Problem is it has the opposite effect. To any normal person it is kinda weird. Even someone like myself who knows the lingo finds it weird. Now imagine a girl hearing you talk in this manner. You would look like a right weirdo which is not very attractive at all.

Why should you make the effort to learn stuff that is not useful to meeting women. Use that time instead to work on making yourself a more attractive guy and the women will come flooding.

  • Spending time with people who use too much jargon makes me want to throttle them. However, I think it's just part of being in a different group. Skaters, Doctors, Cab Drivers all have their own jargon that they use to convey lots of information in a short time.

"I opened that mixed 5 set with an opinion opener, kinoed the target, then AMOGed the AMOG." is no different then "I popped an ollie then grinded railed and top it off with a slap of cheese SON!"

  • Hey great post! I'm definitely in agreement with you that PUA Lingo is overused, but that it does have some uses. Like most things, jargon should be used in moderation.

Cheers Casual. Yeah there is a place for it. And if people want to use it then they should.
Personally I won't be using it anytime soon :)
