New Year – Time To Get Into Shape
If you are anything like me then you have probably spent Christmas and the run up to New Year gorging on what can only be described as an abundance of delicious, sweet and damn-right irresistible meals, chocolate and other bountiful goodies the festive period has to offer.
Christmas up to New Year is definitely one of the few times that I really allow myself to pig out. Now I am not Mr strict when it comes to diet. I tend to have a fairly balanced diet that allows me to enjoy the finer things whilst still eating healthily.
However over Christmas I seem to just let any good work I might have done through the year fly out of the window. But hey it was Christmas and who really gives a shit whether or not you treat yourself a little, right?
So now Christmas is over it’s time to get into shape. Although not the most crucial of elements when it comes to attracting women, being in shape in can still give you an edge over the competition.
New Year, New Start
If you are still reading this then you obviously you are serious about getting into shape.
So how do you go about making sure that you stick to a game plan that allows you to turn your body into a finely turned machine that will allow you to dazzle the women when they grope your pecs and abs on the dance-floor, and in your bedroom?
Well first you need a plan. I sometimes go into things with a bit of gung-ho attitude where I kinda do what I feel like and see how things go.
Trust me this is not the way to go. It is so easy to not perform to your best.
Why being gung-ho is bad…
No schedule, no need
If you don’t have a schedule then you might wake up one morning and think “I can’t be arsed to run today; I will do it tomorrow”. Then tomorrow the same thing happens. However if you have a plan then you know when you should be training and by missing one session could mess the rest of your plan up. Therefore keep a detailed plan of your training. That way you know what you are doing each day and are thus much more likely to stick to your plan of action.
Bailing on the hard stuff
Not knowing what you are doing each day can also make you bail on the hard stuff. If you have put in your planner that it’s legs day and you hate doing legs, then you are more likely to pass and do something else. If it’s written down in black and white ink then it’s much harder to not actually do what you said you will do. This happens so much in the world of keep-fit. I deliberately used legs as an example because they are a horrible set of muscles to train because they are so big and thus cause the most pain. Hence why you see so many guys with upper torsos like the Incredible Hulk and yet have legs like Bambi.
Not knowing how much you have improved
This is something that I do a lot. I try and keep everything in my head which is not really ideal. Knowing exactly what you did in the last session allows you to gauge your progress and thus allow you to adapt your work out by seeing the results you achieved last time and deciding whether or not it’s time to start pushing yourself a little harder. Therefore it’s best to keep a detailed training journal that allows you to keep track of your results and then allows you to gauge what your next course of action will be.
Uncertainty on rest needed
If you are not truly aware of how much you are physically putting your body through then you are unlikely to know how much rest is needed in order to fully recover and thus allow you to train to your full potential next time. This requires serious research because it can vary massively depending on what sort of training you are doing. There are no hard and fast rules because training to increase muscle size is not the same as training to build strength. This ties in with the last point in that you need to keep a journal so that you know what you have done and therefore how much rest you need before you train again. Remember that you can split your work outs so that you can rest one part whilst training another.
Monitoring the correct thing
Most guys goals is to lose fat and gain some muscle resulting in a ripped look. However most people will measure their success by how much weight they have lost, or gained. This is a bad idea. If you haven’t trained much before then you might not lose (or gain) a huge amount of weight. This is because muscle weighs three times more that fat. Therefore if you are loosing fat but gaining muscle then you in fact might become a little heavier. The best thing to do is get a good set of calipers and measure the amount of fat that you have (your bodyfat percentage). This will be a much better indication of whether you are getting the results that you are looking for.
Watching what you eat
A huge part of getting truly into shape is eating the right food for the job. There is an old saying that goes, “Abs are made in the kitchen and not at the gym”. To become a truly lean mean sexy machine you need to get your diet under control. Now you don’t have to take part in some crazy-ass diet, it just means that you need to eat a sensible diet that allows you to train hard, but
also help you to reduce your calorie intake. This is something that definitely needs to be monitored properly so that you are aware of how many calories you are taking in and how many you are burning off down the gym.
Maybe low-carb is right for you. Maybe Paleo. Maybe a 40/40/20 macro-nutrient ratio. The point is to do your homework and choose what suits your goals and current situation.
Final thoughts
Getting into shape takes a lot of time and effort. However it’s truly worth it because you will feel better in yourself, look better and be healthier. This has some major advantages when it comes to attracting women, things like:
* Unlike men, women are generally attracted by a man’s body more than his face.
* It shows them you care about yourself and thus will care about them.
* Being in better shape will more than likely help you to perform better in the bedroom.
* Strength and fitness shows you are able to protect them and look after them.
If you are serious about having a body that women will swoon over then you might want to check out the ‘Adonis Effect’. This course has had some truly amazing results and could be the key to getting you into the best shape of your life.
