I think this idea is a good one, ive tried it. It does you good to not wank for as many days as possible, ive done 10 days, yes by that point i have to release the pressure. It does force you to try to interact more with women, knowing that you cant just look forward to getting home and going online. Ive also dont the thing where before you go out either watch porn, or stick the music channel on tv, more often than not even watching some nice women on a music video will get you charged up and wanting to do something about it.

Being a women I am not sure I agree with the whole watch porn and then pick up chicks theory. I read but did not notice if the pursuit is mainly for sex or a relationship? "Sexual motivation"..is not grounds for picking up healthy or clean relationships...If I was out and a guy was all charged up ready to go, I think I would know the one thing he wanted. Now, If you are speaking clearly on picking up chicks to do the nasty than I say go for it! We all like our one night stands now and again!

<abbr><em>Janice’s last blog post..<a href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/HowNotToGetADate/~3/wB695IQujRQ/when-do-you-say-i-love-you.html">When do you say "I Love You?"</a></abbr></em>

Jess,

In answer to your question, strip clubs are a different kettle of fish.

Their business model is based on making you get really horny (pole dancing, hot girls 'talking' to you), and then charging you money to get you even hornier (lap dances, private rooms, etc.).

Imagine the average guy in a strip club. Is he horny or not? Horny, of course.

Do the strippers go home with the normal guys (the customers)? Of course they don't.

Work and pleasure don't mix.

To separate yourself from a paying customer you have to do the opposite. You have to *not* get horny.

To a stripper, a horny guy = $$$. If she can make you want her, she can get money from you.

It's not a bad thing, it's just the way of the world.

So in a strip club, its more a case of making sure you stay calm, relaxed, and while you remain sexually powerful, you don't get too overtly horny.

If you demonstrate that her usual 'stripper game' ain't gonna fly with you, then you will be well away.

Here's a great quote from an interview with Sinn that sums this up well:

"See stripper game all comes down to the duel between her two sub-personalities. The salesman(Or stripper) and the real girl. This is where the idea of cognitive dissonance comes in because there are only so many things a salesperson can do for you before they start to compromise their beliefs and have to justify that they are doing these things for you not to get a sale but because they like you. So the key is to grow that real girl while not doing anything to make that stripper personality uncomfortable."

From: http://www.seduction-chronicles.net/2008/03/28/sinn-seduction-masters-interview/

In other words... Get in touch with her 'real girl' side, without being a dick about her trying to get dough out of you.

Hope that helps, thanks for the comment man.

Dave, I like the concept and I personally vouch that abstaining from sex and masturbation increases motivation to talk to chicks.

Tell me something though, surely this theory can be incorporated into going to strip clubs etc.

daggaz, thanks for your detailed comment.

First off, I didn't say to masturbate or not masturbate. I actually said I would probably be unable to not masturbate for 7 days straight (like 99.99% of other guys out there, I would wager).

If you wanna wank every day, do so, whatever. It's natural, healthy, normal.

My point was to get aroused by watching porn, and then whilst in that sexually charged state, go out, rather than following your normal habit of masturbating.

This seems to have passed you by.

Although I did mention hormones and testosterone in the post, it's not really the focus of what I'm talking about. What I'm on about is your attitude; your mood; your 'state' of mind when you are out there in social situations.

Whatever hormone cocktail is controlling it, I *don't really care*. All I'm concerned with is feeling powerfully masculine and sexually aggressive when I'm around people at a public gathering.

As you said, there is little or no research in this area in the timescales we are talking about - i.e. in the period leading up to about 8 hours after 'exposure' to porn. So the scientific argument holds little or no water here.

You mention research on medium and long term effects (but do not cite sources), yet these are irrelevant with regard to our purposes here.

Don't get me wrong, I base many of my decisions in life on peer reviewed double-blind studies (from nutrition, to psychology and strength training). I am a *huge* advocate of proper scientific method.

In this case, however, all we have to go with is our own personal experiences (of which you fail to mention your own) with watching porn before going out.

We are on about watching for 10mins, then going out the house straight into town. You could literally be out there interacting within 5 minutes. Notice what your state of mind is if you view porn before going out, compared to if you don't.

Have you tried this yourself? What was your outcome? How did you *feel*?

We can all read journals, think and hypothesize all day long, but unless you are out there 'experimenting' for yourself, you ain't gonna see a single woman more enter your life.

Dont get me wrong here, Im not ragging on your idea specifically BUT..

The whole idea that masturbation reduces testosterone levels? NOT TRUE. It actually increases them, both in the blood and the semen, tho testosterone is not one of the hormones that increases the most.

There is absolutely NO scientific, peer approved literature that supports the original hypothesis, and plenty of it (literally, dozens of contemporary research articles) which flat out refute it and prove the opposite.

Now I havent seen papers that look into medium term effects (a week or so) but I have seen papers that focus on men who do not have sex or masturbation in which there is not discernable change. (clergy men, ok they may be lying about it.. but the guy even worked that into the statistical analysis and it still came up unlikely.) At any rate, there are lots of other medical reasons which would indicate as well that there wouldnt be any major surge in hormone levels due to lack of ejaculation. As well, testosterone, which is ALWAYS cited singly cited in these theories, is not even close to the only hormone that controls our sex drive. The whole thing just reaks of junk science.

By the way, I am majoring in Nanotechnology with an emphasis on genetics and human cellular biology, so believe me I do know what I am talking about here.

Phsychological aspects aside, as far as hormone levels go, wank to your hearts' content, guys.

Matt, I just had an image of rows of 'new recruits' all dressed in club gear doing star-jumps in front of huge movie-screens showing porn and then hustling out the door to go out... ;-)

Back to reality though, this is good stuff. That there's scientific reasoning behind this working is great. What you explain makes good sense.

Just wondering how long the increased testosterone boost lasts for, as I am totally considering putting porn on my iPhone, and looking at it whilst talking to a girl.

Her: What you looking at?
Me: Porn, duh. I'm boosting my testosterone, adrenaline and pheromone production. God don't you know *anything*?

I reckon I could pull it off :-)
